seminar with additional events
What is the art of new media or new media art? What does the expression really stand for? What has caused the split between this expression and the art scene it supposedly describes? And, finally, what could explain the limited presence of such art – which seems to be having everything that is required to be considered the representative practice of the era, in which digital media have been changing decisively the political, economic, social and cultural organisation of the world we live in – in critical debate? All these and many other questions have been tackled by Italian art critic Domenico Quaranta in his new book Beyond New Media Art, which will be presented in Ljubljana by the author at a press conference and a free two-day seminar organised by Aksioma Association, intended primarily for students and artists, but also open to the general public.
Just before the seminar, Aksioma Association will publish the Slovenian translation of Beyond New Media Art, which will be made available generally as a print-on-demand and free e-book through an online platform.
